The Tour de Basement

In my experience, all buyers know that basements are hugely important - a part of the home walk-through process they do not want to skip. But most buyers don't have a clue what to look for when they get to the basement. They find themselves aimlessly looking around, maybe tapping on a wall or two, before shrugging that they guess it looks OK?

So how can you be an educated consumer when walking through a basement? I joined home inspector Ryan Thomas for a tour of my own basement to find out. We identified five items to pay close attention to - the foundation, the electrical panel, the furnace, the hot water tank, and the sump pump!
